Ownership Requirements

There are no restrictions on the ownership of vessels registered under the Comoros flag. Registration is open to Comorian entities, foreign corporations, and individual owners. All applicants are subject to the Administration’s Know Your Client (KYC) and due-diligence procedures at the time of enquiry or application.

Ownership structures must comply with the applicable provisions of the Merchant Shipping legislation and associated regulations administered by the Comoros Maritime Administration.

Maritime Resident Agent (Representative Person)

The appointment of a Maritime Resident Agent (Representative Person) is a requirement for ship registration under the Comoros flag, in accordance with applicable ownership and registration regulations. The Representative Person must be a duly regulated business entity and may be subject to national and international compliance requirements, including anti-money laundering and counter-financial crime legislation. Port of Registry

Vessels registered under the Comoros flag are entered in the official Port of Registry as designated by the Administration in accordance with national maritime legislation and operational procedures. The assigned Port of Registry will be reflected on all statutory certificates and official registration documents issued for the vessel.
